Angels with Paws
Author Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy (SARK) calls our furry four-legged friends, “Angels with Paws”, and I’ve always loved that phrase, along with our own resident angels: three frisky rescue cats, and two kissy chocolate labradors! As an obvious animal lover, that makes this week’s ARTchix Studio art challenge a favorite with its theme of CATS. My 11-year old daughter wanted to get in on the art fun too this week, so I’ll post both of our postcard-size collages made from ARTchix goodies, and feline images rescued from old magazines, a kitten bookmark, and even one cat cutie scanned from a t-shirt! Having fun, making art ….a purrrfect combination! (And even more wonderful with your pets closeby —here’s to all those who open their hearts to make a forever home for the countless dogs and cats awaiting adoption in the world’s overcrowded rescue shelters, and to the volunteers and donors who contribute to this very worthy cause.)

These are terrific Paula!! Thank you soo soo much for your sweet comments! As you can see , I am new to this altered art thing, but trying my best as my inner muse wants to speak through more than metal these days. Everyone at Artchix has been especially nice!! I especially like your comments on the animal shelters. My daughter wants me to volunteer with her at the local SPCA….I have been avoiding that phone call because I’m afraid I’m too emotional, but this post might prompt me to do so, and just suck it up and give something back……Hugs, Sharon

Thanks for your wonderful note! I have the urge to take all the dogs and cats home when I’m at the local Humane Society too, so I’m trying to help in fundraising ways (who knows, maybe this art challenge piece will lead to a new line of postcards or little frameable prints that they can sell in their gift shop). You’ve also helped me remember that I want to design for our Humane Society a sticker/label that could be given to any grocers or pet shops who would agree to put it on their bags of dog/cat food to remind buyers to pick up an extra bag to donate to their local shelter – must move that up on my project list! I am loving getting acquainted with the ARTchix community and all the charming and gifted creative souls there … thanks again for taking time to write!
